This role supports a highly regulated, enterprise-scale environment focused on reliability, security, and operational excellence. You will play a key role in building and maintaining infrastructure systems that enable secure data exchange, high system availability, and efficient operations across the organization.
Job Description
The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise infrastructure systems with a focus on automation, monitoring, and secure file transfer capabilities. This role supports a hands-off, highly automated environment while ensuring stability, performance, and compliance across all systems.
- Design and implement monitoring, automation, configuration management, and reporting solutions to support a hands-off infrastructure environment (e.g., Managed File Transfer, SFTP)
- Design, install, configure, and maintain servers, virtual machines, networking systems, storage devices, and firewalls across a complex enterprise environment
- Manage and support technologies such as VMware, Windows, UNIX, secure file transfer tools, and network security platforms
- Adhere to change management processes and support incident response, including troubleshooting and resolving system and software issues
- Perform regular system maintenance, including OS and application patching, updates, and performance monitoring
- Document system configurations, processes, and new or existing infrastructure components
- Provide responsive, customer-focused support by addressing incidents, service requests, and operational needs in a timely manner
- Develop and maintain project plans, including risk assessments, disaster recovery strategies, and business continuity plans
- Define and document best practices, operational standards, and support procedures
- Mentor and support junior team members to promote knowledge sharing and team development
- Provide after-hours support for infrastructure-related incidents and participate in scheduled weekend maintenance as needed
- Assist with vendor evaluations, recommendations, and technical decision-making
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and evidence of compliance
- Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to ensure infrastructure aligns with business needs
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Experience designing and supporting enterprise infrastructure environments, including servers, networking, storage, and security
- Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware) and operating systems such as Windows and UNIX/Linux
- Experience with secure file transfer technologies (e.g., SFTP, managed file transfer platforms)
- Strong understanding of networking concepts and security practices, including firewall management
- Experience with monitoring, automation, and configuration management tools
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and support incident response processes
- Experience with system patching, maintenance, and performance optimization
- Familiarity with change management processes and compliance-driven environments
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Ability to provide on-call or after-hours support when needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with enterprise tools such as Connect:Direct, Progress, or similar platforms
- Background supporting infrastructure within regulated industries such as insurance or financial services
- Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity planning and testing
- Exposure to audit processes and compliance documentation requirements
- Experience mentoring junior engineers or contributing to team development initiatives
- Familiarity with vendor management and technology evaluations
